Speakerul Lupu certat în limba engleză de către ONG-urile de media
Mass media NGOs are disturbed by the attitude of the Parliament Speaker, Chair of the Democratic Party, Marian Lupu, who, in reference to the investigation „Million house of the NIC chief”, prepared by Ziarul de Gardă, declared that it „doesn’t have enough grounds for serious adjudication” and that „there is a big desire for ratings”. Moreover, Marian Lupu declared that „a person’s reputation may be destroyed in 5 seconds” suggesting that investigative journalists acted with bad faith.
Just like leader of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu, the Speaker of the Parliament, Marian Lupu exerted pressure over journalists and damaged the image of mass media by declaring that „there is a need for balanced approaches that have to be checked, and even ten times checked.” In this context, we would like to inform Marian Lupu that, when the chair of the National Integrity Commission, Anatol Donciu was asked if he agreed with what was written, he declared: „I don’t agree with the statement that I have two dogs. I have only one. I don’t agree that Fenosa representatives do not have free access and that there was a need for police intervention. These were the issues I don’t agree with. For the rest, what is true, it is true. A good job done was by Ziarul de Gardă…”.
In this way, we request the support of diplomatic missions, international organizations and development partners of the Republic of Moldova to explain to the political leaders who discredit journalists’ work that investigations represent a key element in combating corruption, a commitment made by the governing coalition „Alliance for European Integration”.
Furthermore, we emphasize that in any democratic and European society, journalistic investigations are the basis for governmental bodies to empower themselves and start investigations over identified irregularities, in order to inform the public on the way the officials exercise their duties.
