President Maia Sandu discussed in New York with the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, the challenges in “our country and our region.”

”We reaffirmed Moldova’s commitment to supporting the global effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and post-pandemic reconstruction, to reduce the effects of climate change, and to maintain peace and stability in the region and in the world. Moldova supports the position of the Secretary General for the UN agenda, but also for the need to reform the organization, in order to prepare it to respond more effectively to today’s challenges. Such multilateral platforms must be fully exploited if we are to find lasting solutions to the challenges humanity is facing today.”

President Maia Sandu is in New York, USA, on September 21-22. On Wednesday, September 22, Maia Sandu is delivering a speech in the plenary of the UN General Assembly.

Promo-LEX calls on President Maia Sandu to request the delegation of a special rapporteur to monitor respect for human rights in the breakaway Transnistrian region of Moldova.
