On 24 July, Prime Minister Maia Sandu and European Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Negotiations for Enlargement Johannes Hahn signed three financing agreements amounting to 40 million euros.

The three E.U. financing agreements are focused on three important issues: fighting corruption, developing local communities and helping Moldova participate in various E.U. projects.

” The commissioner Hahn already announced that we have signed three financing agreements for three projects, very important. One is about helping us building institutions that will fight and prevent corruption, which is the major problem of my country today. Another issue is about building strong local communities. We want to have inclusive growth that will benefit all the citizens of my country, in all the localities and the type of support that the EU has been providing including through this project is going to help those who need it most, and of course the project that is going to help us implement the association agreement. We are very grateful that we have been able with your support, with your trust to unblock the financial assistance.” said Prime Minister Sandu

In turn the E.U. Commissioner Johannes Hahn has encouraged Chisinau authorities to promote reforms and stressed that the E.U. will continue to support actions aimed at strengthening democracy and the rule of law.

According to a Government press release, the financing agreements that amount to 40.25 million euros, are meant to contribute significantly to Moldova’s development and strengthening its relation with the E.U.
