The Government’s petition requesting verification of the constitutionality of the “Shor” political party will be examined by the Constitutional Court (CC) judges “from May 10 to May 17, 2023”, the High Court announces.

“From May 10 to May 17, 2023, in the sitting room of the Court, the Government’s petition requesting verification of the constitutionality of the Political Party “Shor” will be examined. Please note that only invited persons will have access to the Constitutional Court’s meeting room,” a CC information note reads.

On November 14, 2022, the CC announced that in the procedure of the institution is for examination the complaint filed by the Government on the verification of the constitutionality of the Political Party “Shor”. The CC mentioned that in relation to this case, opinions were requested from the “Șor” Party and other public authorities on the mentioned complaint.

“The Court is currently examining complaint no. 184h/2022 concerning the verification of the constitutionality of the Political Party “Șor”. Opinions have been requested from the party concerned and the authorities in connection with this case. Developments in the case will be reflected on the Constitutional Court’s website,” the Court announced in a statement.

Representatives of the Executive submitted to the CC a request for verification of the constitutionality of the “Shor” political party. According to the authorities, “through all its activities so far, the “Shor” party has acted in contradiction with the principles of the rule of law and endangers the sovereignty and independence of Moldova”.

On 9 March this year, officers of the National Anti-Corruption Centre and anti-corruption prosecutors carried out a new round of searches in the case of illegal financing of the “Shor” political party, resulting in the seizure of 4 560 719 lei.
