Police announced that Dorin Stratulat, the main suspect in the murder of the 29-year-old found shot in Straseni, has been extradited by land and arrived in the custody of Straseni police officers. Dorin Stratulat, the main suspect in the murder of the 29-year-old man found shot in Strășeni, who was detained in Bucharest in mid-August, was to be extradited to Moldova on Thursday, 13 October, in order to carry out the necessary procedural steps to be brought to justice, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) announced.

The High Court of Cassation and Justice of Romania decided on 12 October to uphold the criminal sentence handed down by the Bucharest Court of Appeal on 20 September, which ordered the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Moldova and the extradition of Dorin Stratulat, in order to hold him criminally responsible for the crime of intentional murder.

According to Moldovan law, after the extradition procedure is completed, Dorin Stratulat is detained by the authorities in Chisinau for 72 hours and then the arrest procedure is initiated.

On 24 August, the Moldovan police announced that they had been informed by the Romanian authorities of the detention in Bucharest, at around 1.30 a.m., of the main suspect in the Strășeni crime, Dorin Stratulat, son of former policeman Ion Stratulat, who had been placed under international search by Moldovan prosecutors for arrest and extradition.

Earlier, ZdG law enforcement sources told us that Dorin Stratulat had left the territory of Moldova and gone to Romania with a citizenship other than that of Moldova within an hour of committing the crime.

Dorin Stratulat is accused of the murder of a young man, who was shot on the night of 8 to 9 August 2022, and his body was found in the outskirts of the village of Zubresti, Strășeni district.

According to the Moldovan police, after initial examinations, forensic experts found that the man had been shot three times in the chest area.

“A short time ago (Wednesday, August 10, editor’s note), the police were notified about the discovery of a body in the forest of Straseni. The police have established his identity. It is a 29-year-old man who was reported missing by his mother yesterday afternoon. According to preliminary investigations, he died of three bullet wounds in the region of the ribs,” law enforcement officials said.

Dorin Stratulat is the son of former police officer Ion Stratulat, himself previously under investigation for murder, who in September 2011 was shot dead by Moldovan kick-boxing champion Ion Șoltoianu on a terrace in the centre of the capital at lunchtime.
