    Cătălin Scutelnic was appointed on Thursday, September 22, as interim chief prosecutor of the Chișinău District Prosecutor’s Office, while Igor Demciucin was appointed as interim deputy chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), Sergiu Russu. The decision was taken behind closed doors at a meeting of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP).

    The new interim Chief Prosecutor of the Chișinău District Prosecutor’s Office, Cătălin Scutelnic, has been working as a prosecutor in the same Prosecutor’s Office since August 2016. During 2021, Scutelnic collected from the Chișinău Prosecutor’s Office a total salary of more than 258 thousand lei, or about 21 thousand lei per month.

    According to the declaration of wealth and personal interests for last year, the Scutelnic family owns four agricultural lands that they inherited and one intracultural land, with an area of 10 acres.

    The prosecutor’s family also owns an apartment and 1/2 of another, and a Dacia car.
    Duster. Cătălin Scutelnic took out a loan of 395 thousand lei in 2019, due in 2039.

    Igor Demciucin was also appointed in August 2016 as a prosecutor in the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS).

    Demciucin had in 2021 a total salary of about 344 thousand lei. According to the statement of assets and personal interests, the prosecutor owns an apartment of about 36 square meters, but since 2021 he has the right to use a residential house of more than 70 square meters which is owned by another person.

    At the 22 September meeting of the CSP, the appointment of interim chief prosecutors of several institutions was discussed: Chief Prosecutor and Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Ialoveni District Prosecutor’s Office; Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organised Crime and Special Cases; Chief Prosecutor of the Cahul District Prosecutor’s Office; Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Soroca District Prosecutor’s Office; Chief Prosecutor of the Chisinau District Prosecutor’s Office; Chief Prosecutor of the Taraclia District Prosecutor’s Office.
