    President Maia Sandu Met the President of the Swiss Confederation at the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly: “We discussed the negotiations on the free trade agreement with the EFTA countries”

    President Maia Sandu, who is paying an official visit to New York, USA, on the first day of participation in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, had a meeting with Guy Parmelin, President of the Swiss Confederation.

    President Sandu stated that they discussed the free trade agreements with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.

    “We discussed how to advance collaboration between our countries in areas of common interest. We agreed to increase Moldovan-Swiss trade and economic relations. At the same time, we discussed the negotiations on a free trade agreement with the EFTA countries. We also discussed the development programs carried out with the support of Switzerland in our country, in areas such as water supply, education, health, migration, and others,” said President Sandu in a post on Facebook.

    In this context, President Maia Sandu mentions that she invited Guy Parmelin, the President of the Swiss Confederation, to visit Moldova.

    On September 21-22, President Maia Sandu pays an official visit to New York, USA. During the visit, the head of state will attend the UN General Assembly and will deliver a speech in the plenary of the UN General Assembly. According to the Presidency, President Maia Sandu will have several bilateral meetings.
