    Six Persons Detained for Stealing Luxury Cars and for Arms Trade

    The Intelligence and Security Service together with prosecutors detained 6 members of a group specialized in stealing luxury cars and arms trade. One of them holds a high position in the Ministry of Interior.

    The Intelligence and Security Service issued a note on Thursday, June 24, announcing that together with prosecutors they detained 6 members of a group specialized in arms trafficking. Among those detained is an employee of the Ministry of Interior who holds a leading position in the institution.

    According to the Intelligence and Security Service, during the special investigation, they established that a Moldovan citizen purchased from a police officer a special device, designed to easily unlock vehicles and start the engine, in order to steal and sell luxury cars both in the country and abroad. The employee of the Ministry of Interior, who holds a leading position in the institution, was detained in flagrante delicto, at the time of selling the device for the amount of about 18,000 euros. The investigators also found several fully functional weapons.

    According to the authorities, the 6 detained persons are suspected of committing crimes that are punishable with up to 2 to 7 years in prison.
