Moldova Is to Have a New Ambassador to Turkey
Three months ago President Igor Dodon declared that Moldova’s next ambassador to Turkey could be a former Bashkan of UTA Gagauzia. Back then the Presidency’s press service refused to give the name of the next ambassador to Turkey. After three months, on November 29, the President signed the decree appointing Dmitri Croitor as Moldova’s next ambassador to Turkey.
President Dodon signed on November 29, the decree appointing Dmitri Croitor, former Bashkan of the UTA Gagauzia, as extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Moldova to Turkey.
“I expressed my conviction that the promotion of the representative of Gagauzia in this position will contribute to strengthening the dialogue with Ankara,” the head of state said.
About the fact that Moldova’s next ambassador to Turkey will be a former Bashkan of the UTA Gagauzia Dodon announced in mid-August, mentioning that this is “another time for the development of normal relations between different nationalities of the Republic of Moldova.”
Back then the Presidency’s press service refused to give the name of Moldova’s next ambassador to Turkey, mentioning that the name will be disclosed when the final decision will be maid.
Dmitri Croitor was the governor of UTA Gagauzia in 1999-2002. He was also a deputy and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
