    European Commission’s Director-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations to Visit Chișinău

    The European Commission’s Director-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Christian Danielsson will visit Chișinău to reinforce E.U. support for Moldova. He will meet with the Prime Minister, the President, the Speaker of the Parliament, civil society representatives and members of the business community.   

    On September 16-17, Christian Danielsson, the European Commission’s Director-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, is set to visit Chișinău.

    Danielsson will discuss reform progress in key areas of the Association Agreement, as well as the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement. He will confirm the E.U.’s commitment to supporting the country, on the basis of a sustained implementation of those reforms.

    During his visit, Danielsson will have meetings with the Prime Minister Maia Sandu and President Igor Dodon, as well as the Speaker of the Parliament, Zinaida Greceanîi. He will also hold discussions with the business community. 

    The European Commission’s Director-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations is also planning on directly engaging with civil society representatives, in the framework of public discussions and consultations on the future of the Eastern Partnership. 

    On August 7, 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration released the 2019 progress report on the National Action Plan for Implementing the E.U.- Moldova Association Agreement. 

    According to the report, the authorities have managed to implement 48.83 percent of the Action plan, completing 63 of the 129 total actions. Sixty-six actions remain to be implemented, such as approving the National Waste Management Program and National Anti-drug Strategy, as well as extending the use of the Facial Recognition System in policing.
