    Socialist Corneliu Furculiță, found with unjustified wealth of over eight million lei, obtains at the Chisinau Court of Appeal the annulment of the ANI act

    Bloc of Communists and Socialists (BCS) deputy Corneliu Furculiță has obtained at the Chisinau Court of Appeal the annulment of an act of the National Integrity Authority (ANI), which found him with unjustified wealth of over eight million lei for 2017-2018.

    The wealth check on Furculiță was initiated in September 2020, after Ziarul de Gardă caught him in the summer of 2020 living in an imposing house that he had not declared. Also, according to the ANI’s statement of findings, the wealth control was also initiated in connection with the non-declaration of loans taken out by Corneliu Furculiță from his company “Exclusiv Media” SRL.

    The civil, commercial and administrative disputes panel of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, composed of judges Veronica Negru, Ecaterina Palanciuc and Ina Dutca, admitted the action brought by socialist Corneliu Furculiță against the ANI challenging the unfavourable individual administrative act and decided to annul the ANI’s act of finding of 28 April 2023. The judgment was handed down on 24 July 2023, but no reasoned court decision had been published by the time this article was published.

    “Annuls the finding No 52/03 of 28.04.2023 issued by the National Integrity Authority in respect of Corneliu Furculiță. The decision is enforceable from the moment it is issued, but can be appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice within 30 days of the pronouncement of the decision, through the Chisinau Court of Appeal (…),” the document says.

    In April 2023, ANI issued a finding regarding socialist Corneliu Furculiță.

    “In the case of a member of the Moldovan Parliament, a substantial difference in the amount of more than eight million lei was found for the years 2017-2018. Thus, the elected representative of the people would have repaid several loans to his commercial company, from which he did not actually benefit. Similarly, he did not declare four loans contracted but not repaid during the declaration period, as well as the real estate under construction. At the same time, it was established that the MP had erroneously declared the cash savings, but according to the results of the wealth control, he could not have had the declared funds,” ANI announced.

    In July 2020, ZdG wrote that Socialist MP Corneliu Furculiță lives in an imposing house in a suburb of the capital, built on two plots of land registered in the name of his 26-year-old daughter. The house was not listed in the MP’s declaration of wealth and personal interests in recent years, although previously, until 2017, the politician indicated it as “unfinished construction”.
