Daniela Cociu – Maria Olărașu tandem won the world title in kayak-canoe, Under 23
Moldova’s national canoeing team has recorded outstanding results at the World Under-23 Championship, 2023 edition, reserved for seniors, youth and cadets, announces the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC). The Daniela Cociu – Maria Olarasu double won the Under-23 world title in the 500 meters distance.
At the World Junior Championships, also held in Italy, the duo Mihail Culceac – Stanislav Banaru placed 3rd in the 1000 metres with a result of 3:42.43.
Elena Glizan took bronze in the 1000m with a result of 4:40.31.
At the U23 World Championship Mihai Chihaia placed 8th in the 1000m with a result of 3:55.69.
The victories achieved by the athletes are also due to the coaches of the national cayaking team Victor Reneischi and Nicolae Juravschi, MEC notes.
The event took place from 3-7 July 2023 in Italy.
