    “An armed incident took place at Chisinau International Airport in which a foreign citizen was denied entry into Moldova. By now, the individual has been neutralized and handcuffed by the intervening special troops. All flights were delayed and passengers were evacuated from the airport.     UPDATE 18:31 Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) announce that the attacker was captured by BPDS FULGER. Fighters from the FULGER Special Purpose Police Brigade managed to annihilate the assailant who killed two people a short time ago at Chisinau International Airport.

    “At this point the danger has been removed. The assailant was injured and is receiving medical care. We confirm there are two victims. Commercial activity and flight schedules continue to be disrupted at this time. We will come back with details,” the MIA says.

    UPDATE 17:55 According to information from ZdG, the shot was fired by a man who had landed a flight from Turkey. Several police cars and ambulances are at the scene. According to initial reports, at least one person, a border policeman, was injured. People working at the airport have been evacuated from the building.

    The person who carried out the shooting later barricaded himself in a room at the Airport. Earlier, he allegedly fired several shots in the air and later also fired at border guards.

    Several gunshots were heard on Friday, June 30, at Chisinau International Airport. A witness told us that a man fired several shots and people were evacuated from the building.

    According to information obtained by ZdG, a man who landed at the airport fired several shots in the air. Law enforcement agencies are on the scene. The person who carried out the shooting has barricaded himself in a room at the airport.

    It is not yet known why the man fired the shots or how he got the gun to the airport.

    Diana Fetco, head of the Communication and Protocol Section of the Inspectorate General of Police (IGP), confirmed to ZdG that the shooting had taken place and said she would return with details.

    “No comment. The airport is an objective like any other, please contact the competent bodies, not the airport”, said Constantin Vozian, the administrator of Chisinau International Airport. He added that he did not know the details. “I don’t know. I, at this moment, am going to the Airport to see what is going on. I don’t know what it is. I think you should talk to the police, the law enforcement agencies,” Vozian added.
