Drugs worth 1.5 million lei were seized by police and prosecutors from an 18-year-old teenager who acted as a courier at an internet drug store, the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) announced. In order to camouflage his illegal activity, he also worked at a car wash during the day.

Several types of drugs were seized from his apartment, rented for €450 a month. Also, according to law enforcement officers, after examining the young man’s phones, drugs prepared for customers in hiding places in four areas of Chisinau were seized.

Thus, prosecutors from the PCCOCS, together with officers from the Anti-Drug Directorate of the National Investigation Inspectorate (INI), the General Directorate of Criminal Prosecution of the General Inspectorate of Police (IGP), searched the 18-year-old and seized drugs worth more than 1.5 million lei.

“He is a member of an organised criminal group, in which he was working as a courier and a drug warehouse in an internet shop. And to camouflage his illegal activity, he also worked at a car wash during the day.

The drugs were taken from his apartment, rented for €450 a month, in different quantities and of a wide variety: cocaine, heroin, amphetamine-type psychostimulant pills, ecstasy, LSD-type psychedelics, MDMA and hallucinogenic mushrooms. Moreover, after examining his phones, law enforcement officers picked up heroin and LSD prepared for customers in stashes at four locations in Chisinau. Also, more than 10,000 lei were taken from the young man, allegedly from the sale of drugs,” PCCOCS announced.

The young man was detained and PCCOCS prosecutors requested that he be remanded in custody for 30 days – a request granted by the Chisinau Ciocana Court.

Investigations are continuing into other members of the organised criminal group, led by a Moldovan national living in the EU, during which time the persons concerned are presumed innocent by law.
