    The hearing to examine the file on the validation of the results of the second round of elections in ATU Gagauzia held on May 14 has been scheduled for Monday, May 22, at 10:00.

    The magistrate who will examine the case is Andrei Mironov, judge at the Comrat Court of Appeal.

    Andrei Mironov

    Andrei Mironov was appointed in 2007 for a five-year term as a judge of the Taraclia Court. In July 2012, he became Deputy President of the Taraclia Court. In December 2016 Mironov was appointed to exercise the duties of an investigating judge at the Cahul Court, Taraclia seat, for the period 01 January 2017-31 December 2017. In June 2015 he was appointed to exercise the interim office of the President of the Taraclia Court. Four years later, Mironov was appointed as a judge of the Comrat Court of Appeal. On 30 March 2022 the magistrate was appointed to the interim office of president of the court until the vacancy was filled in the established manner.

    The second round of elections for the position of Bashkan was held in ATU Gagauzia on Sunday, 14 May. In the second round, the candidate of the “Șor” party, Evghenia Guțul, and the independent candidate, supported by the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), Grigorii Uzun, fought. According to the preliminary results published by the Central Electoral Commission of Gagauzia, the candidate of the “Șor” Party, Evghenia Guțul, won the elections for the position of Bashkan of ATU Gagauzia.

    On the morning of 13 May, the “Shor” party announced that several of its activists had been searched. The spokeswoman of the National Anti-Corruption Centre confirmed this information to ZdG, stating that the prosecution is taking place in the context of the voter corruption case.

    On Tuesday, 16 May, officers of the National Anti-Corruption Centre (NAC) raided the headquarters of the Central Electoral Commission in Gagauzia. Also on Tuesday, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) in Chisinau reported that on 13 May 2023 it initiated eight contravention proceedings on the facts of illegal financing of electoral contestants, who received donations from individuals exceeding the maximum ceiling set by law for cash donations, during the elections held in the Gagauzia Administrative Territorial Unit.
