Mihail Saran, the director and founder of the company “Bismobil Kitchen”, who is under investigation in a fraud case, escaped before the magistrates of the Chisinau Ciocana Court decided on the prosecutors’ request to replace his house arrest with preventive detention for 30 days, the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) announced on Friday, April 7.

Following the prosecutors’ request, according to PCCOCS, the founder of “Bismobil Kitchen” was to return to pre-trial detention for 30 days, after the Chisinau Court of Appeal had previously upheld the lawyers’ appeal and placed him under house arrest. However, he failed to appear at the court ruling issued by the Ciocana court of Chisinau.

“Instead, after the hearing to examine the prosecutor’s request, until the delivery of the judgment, the accused went to the “Dendrariu” park.” There, he forced and removed from his body the electronic bracelet on the basis of which he was monitored by law enforcement officers, threw away the coat he was wearing so as not to be recognized and escaped. He is currently wanted by the Moldovan police for arrest.

The prosecutors’ application was due to be heard on Thursday, but the hearing was postponed at the request of the defence, citing the need to hear witnesses. Initially, the defendant was detained on 19 January 2023, at Chisinau airport, just as he was about to leave Moldova on a one-way ticket – Moscow, Russia,” PCCOCS reports.

At this stage of the investigation, the Prosecutor’s Office representatives point out, the estimated damage amounts to about 40 million lei, with 158 victims in Moldova.

Officials from the General Police Inspectorate (IGP) claim that Mihail Sharan removed his “GPS bracelet and fled in an unknown direction, using his lawyer’s car”.

Three days ago, the PCCOCS announced that searches had been carried out at the home of the founder of the “Bismobil Kitchen” company, Mihail Șaran, following his release from pre-trial detention. Law enforcement officers have established that the man communicated with witnesses in the swindle case in which he is targeted, quote “with the purpose of forming a favorable position, hiding and destroying evidence”. Prosecutors allege that Mihail Sharan interfered with the criminal proceedings.

On 4 April 2203, the PCCOCS prosecutors filed a request with the Ciocana court in Chisinau to replace the house arrest with a 30-day remand in custody, so that he “would not influence witnesses or otherwise impede the objective conduct of the investigations”.

Mihail Șaran, director and founder of the company “Bismobil Kitchen”, was detained on 19 January 2023 at Chisinau International Airport as he was planning to leave the country on a one-way ticket to Moscow, Russia. Subsequently, at the request of PCCOCS prosecutors, he was placed in pre-trial detention.

Ziarul de Garda previously came with details from the “kitchen” of the “Bismobil” affair. It published client testimonies, lawyer’s explanations, an administrator’s revelations and an investor’s dilemmas.
