Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă held a press conference in the context of the visit to Chisinau of the head of the Cabinet of Ministers from Bucharest. Prime Minister Ciucă said that this visit was a way for Romania to “reconfirm its continued support for Moldova’s European course”.

“Today we agreed on joint actions for the Romanian language learning programmes for the next three years. These will be targeted, including the adult population. We are identifying opportunities for collaboration in the areas of investment, trade, telecommunications, technology, capital market integration, tourism,” said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers in Chisinau, Dorin Recean.

“Moldova enjoys an unprecedented level of sympathy at European level. This must be harnessed to make Moldova secure, prosperous. (…) We will offer you our experience, because we know it is not an easy road, but it is a necessary and beneficial effort and we strongly support you. (…) There is no other option to offer people a prosperous life than integration into the EU”, said Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă, on his first official visit to Chisinau, was received by Moldovan President Maia Sandu. According to a press release issued by the Romanian Government, “Maia Sandu thanked Romania for all the support provided so that the population and the economy of the Republic of Moldova could get through the complicated winter”, and Prime Minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciucă thanked Romania “for the decision to grant the Romanian language the status of official language in the Republic of Moldova”.

On 1 March 2023, Prime Minister Dorin Recean paid a working visit to Romania. In Bucharest, Prime Minister Dorin Recean had meetings with Nicolae Ciucă, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, as well as with Alina Gorghiu, interim President of the Senate and Marcel Ciolacu, President of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies.
