Law enforcement officers have broken up a drug dealing network, estimated on the black market at around 700,000 lei. Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), together with officers from the General Directorate for Criminal Prosecution, “seized from the criminal group operating since 2022 about 1.5 kg of marijuana and PVP”.

PCCOCS officials note that “the seven members of the drug trafficking network were detained while placing the drugs in hiding places for pick-up by customers who had ordered them on the internet in their online shop”.

“Among those detained are a woman and a Ukrainian minor now being investigated at large, acting as couriers for drug parties in Ukraine. A ban on leaving the locality has been imposed on him. The members of the group are aged between 17 and 24, and at the request of PCCOCS prosecutors, six of them were placed under arrest for 30 days,” PCCOCS announced.

In order to gather conclusive evidence, the defendants were monitored for two months, law enforcement officials say. Thus, it was established that they were carrying pneumatic weapons, “for the purpose of resisting law enforcement officers”, PCCOCS representatives say. The criminal prosecution is continuing, during which time the persons concerned are presumed innocent, according to the law.

PVP – white crystals, called “salt”, which can cause paranoia or hallucinations that can even lead to self-mutilation.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking is a problem that not only endangers the health of those addicted to the drug, but also affects the relatives and close friends of the user and other people who may become victims of crimes committed by drug users.
