A couple from Nisporeni district, involved in drug trafficking, were sentenced to 12 and 7 years in prison, prosecutors announce
Two spouses from a village in Nisporeni district, aged 44 and 51, were sentenced to 12 and 7 years in prison for drug trafficking. According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), the decision was handed down by the Chisinau Court, Buiucani headquarters, and the case was sent to trial in 2019.
“In April 2019, the undercover agent of the investigative authority bought from the defendant almost one kilogram of heroin, which he smuggled into Moldova from Turkey. And the defendant was discovered selling heroin in Chisinau,” prosecutors announce.
According to the PCCOCS, the sentence of the Buiucani court in Chisinau is subject to appeal and the defendants are presumed innocent until it becomes final. As for the accomplices of the defendants, investigations are continuing, prosecutors also announce.
