    Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu will Attend the 28th Annual Meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Stockholm

    The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu will participate in the 28th annual meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, which will take place from 1 to 3 December, in Stockholm, Sweden.

    During the meeting, the foreign ministers of the 57 states participating in the OSCE will discuss current issues on the organization’s agenda on the three dimensions: politico-military, economic and environmental, and humanitarian.

    Ministers will discuss the challenges affecting the OSCE region, as well as the implications for the overall work of the organization. Particular attention will be paid to conflicts in the OSCE area and their impact on respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as ways to strengthen European security.

    During the ministry, the head of the diplomacy from Chișinău will talk about Moldova’s position on the mentioned issues and the process of resolving the conflict in the eastern districts of Moldova.

    Minister Nicu Popescu will have a series of bilateral meetings with the Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken, the Deputy Secretary General of NATO Mircea Geoană, as well as with counterparts from Sweden, Poland, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Kyrgyz Republic, Northern Macedonia, and others. The head of the diplomacy will also participate in the meeting of the GUAM Council of Ministers, during which Moldova will take over the rotating presidency starting with January 1, 2022.
