Ziarul de Gardă won eight awards in the annual internal competitions of the Independent Press Association
The Independent Press Association (API) on Thursday (29 June) awarded the winners in seven categories of its internal competitions for 2022. The editorial staff of the Ziarul de Gardă won eight awards in the competitions.
It is a tradition of API to hold annual professional competitions among media institutions and collaborators of the association’s member newsrooms. Reporters, investigative journalists, as well as managers, photojournalists, designers and layout artists from all API member newsrooms submit their entries to the competition every year.
ZdG’s undercover investigation “Protesters in rent” by our colleagues Anatolie Esanu, Daniela Calmis, Vasile Ursachi, Victoria Borodin and Natalia Zaharescu won first place in the “Best investigative journalist” category. Also in this category, ZdG editor-in-chief Victor Moșneag came second and ZdG journalist Natalia Zaharescu came third.

As last year, the “Best/Best Reporter” competition category was divided into two subcategories: narrative and news, with journalistic material from national and local/regional media evaluated separately.
Journalist Natalia Zaharescu won first place in the category “Best Narrative Reporter”. In the same category, our colleague Marina Gorbatovschi came second. ZdG journalist Milena Onisim won first place in the “Best News Reporter” category.
Ziarul de Gardă also won the prize for “Best coverage of Russia’s war against Ukraine” and the prize for video content.
API has been running annual internal competitions for journalists and media outlets who are members of the organisation since 1999.
In 2022, ZdG won seven awards in API’s annual internal competitions.
