The wealth of Igor Dodon, former President of Moldova and current leader of the Socialist Party, is verified by the National Integrity Authority. The announcement was made by the president of the National Integrity Authority Rodica Antoci. The integrity inspectors will analyze the documents and materials published by journalists. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“For the National Integrity Authority, all subjects are equal before the law and are examined equally. Complaints regarding the former President of Moldova Igor Dodon were submitted ex officio to the institution. I will not go into details, because now the control procedure is in progress and we must not influence the integrity inspector\u2019s investigation,” said the head of the National Integrity Authority.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

According to Rodica Antoci, the National Integrity Authority started the wealth control procedure after several investigations and documents were published by various journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The documents and materials published by journalists were all sent to the integrity inspector for examination. Former President Igor Dodon has held public office since 2000, so he will be verified by other competent institutions too. I very much hope that we will have results in the next period and that the integrity inspector will be diligent and courageous,” said the head of the National Integrity Authority.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Ziarul de Grad\u0103 published several investigations about the real estate, wealth, and luxury vacations of the former President of Moldova Igor Dodon. In 2020, ZdG wrote that Igor Dodon, whose accounts, in the last 16 years, were officially funded only from the state budget, was on vacations in exotic places. ZdG came into possession of more information and photos about a series of luxury vacations enjoyed by the Dodon family in the last decade: Maldives, Seychelles, Dubai, or an exclusive villa on the territory of one of the most luxurious hotels on the Aegean coast, a hotel belonging to Yurii Chaika, son of the Russian Prosecutor General.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President\u2019s Luxurious Vacations<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In May 2011, ZdG wrote that Igor Dodon, who was then running for mayor of Chi\u0219in\u0103u, had a 3-level house. The politician denied it stating that the house belongs to his friends and that he lives rents an apartment in the center of Chi\u0219in\u0103u. Two years later, however, Igor Dodon officialized his acquisition, registering it with the Cadastre. The transaction officially took place on July 29, 2013, the day Dodon took a loan of 75,000 euros from Victoriabank bank, with an interest rate of only 8%, below the market average, which was around 12%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
