“Russia’s policy towards Moldova will depend on the Government that will be elected. If this Government moves away from Russia, then, of course, we will act accordingly, in particular, we will strengthen the Transnistrian factor.\u201d The statement was made by Leonid Kalashnikov, head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with compatriots, in an interview for Interfax, after the Action and Solidarity Party won the early parliamentary elections of July 11.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Referring to the Transnistrian region, Kalashnikov noted that “it will be increasingly difficult to do so, as Transnistria is now situated between two essentially hostile states.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with compatriots claims that “the conciliatory statements of the Action and Solidarity Party regarding Russia before the parliamentary elections will then turn into pro-Europe and use of forces against Transnistria.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“And, eventually, a further merger with Romania. This is all that the Russian-speaking and Gagauz population simply does not accept (…). If Sandu continues to pursue such a policy, hiding it under the guise of alleged cooperation with Russia, it will be another fiasco, which has already happened several times with her predecessors and, unfortunately, the country will not get out of it,\u201d Kalashnikov said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Action and Solidarity Party won the early parliamentary elections of July 11 by a landslide, according to the preliminary results presented on Monday, July 12, by the Central Electoral Commission, after counting the votes from 100% of the polling stations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the counting of votes from the total of 2,150 polling stations, the Action and Solidarity Party registered a percentage of 52.80% of the votes, thus definitely exceeding the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists, which was voted by 27.17% of electorate. The Central Electoral Commission data show that the SHOR Political Party benefited from the support of 5.74% of voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moldovans Secure Parliamentary Majority for the pro-European PAS<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to final preliminary details, the Action and Solidarity Party would get 63 seats, the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists would get 32, and the SHOR Party – 6 seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the supreme law, a parliamentary majority is considered the faction or coalition of factions, announced by a declaration, which includes more than half of the 101 deputies elected, ie 51 deputies.
