The General Prosecutor&#8217;s Office stated that the prosecutors gave up the charges brought against him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;On the grounds that the incriminated deed was not committed by Veaceslav Platon, the prosecutors came to the conclusion of waiving the accusation brought against him,&#8221;&nbsp;stated the General Prosecutor&#8217;s Office. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The prosecutors requested to resume the criminal investigation in order to identify the culprits.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier, ZdG wrote that the controversial case of businessman Veaceslav Platon, in which he was sentenced to 18 years in prison, has been under review for seven months. More than 40 court hearings took place, the case being examined at a fast pace, an approach that is not applied to other resonance cases. Veaceslav Platon was released from prison on June 15, 2020, after the Chi\u0219in\u0103u Court fully admitted the request of the General Prosecutor, Alexandr Stoianoglo to suspend Platon\u2019s sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, president Maia Sandu urges the Prosecutor&#8217;s Office <em>&#8220;to analyze well its decisions in terms of legality and national interest.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;Platon&#8217;s group is a danger to state security. His actions can seriously affect Moldova\u2019s financial stability and can undermine the state institutions and the country&#8217;s economy. It is extremely worrying how quickly the Prosecutor&#8217;s Office dropped the charges against this group,&#8221; said the president.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Controversial businessman Veaceslav Platon is to be acquitted in the bank fraud case.
