The Chi\u0219in\u0103u Court of Appeal made the decision to collect this money from the council&#8217;s account.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In July 2010, the protection dam near H\u00eence\u0219ti district yielded under the waters of the Prut River. The flood smashed Cotul Morii village in the H\u00eence\u0219ti district entirely. Hundreds of houses and thousands of hectares of agricultural land were destroyed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"416\" src=\"https:\/\/zdg.md\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/776-cotul-morii4-740x416-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/776-cotul-morii4-740x416-1.jpg 740w, https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/776-cotul-morii4-740x416-1-360x202.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The authorities decided to build a new town on a hill used for agricultural purposes, next to the flooded village.\u00a0While the houses were in construction, the former mayor of Cotul Morii Hall, Mihail Merz\u00eencu, bought dozens of lots in the construction area.\u00a0After that, he asked for compensation from the state for the houses that were built on his land.
