The General Prosecutor&#8217;s Office brought new charges were against him in a newly opened criminal case.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prosecutor\u2019s Office stated that Viorel Morari is recognized and heard as a suspect on four counts: <strong>&#8220;excess of power, false in public documents, Illegal detention or arrest and prosecuting an innocent person.\u201d<\/strong> After hearing him as a suspect, the case prosecutor decided on the need for his detentions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the evidence, Viorel Morari committed the imputed illegalities in the case of brothers Igor and Adrian Bor\u0219, co-owners of the VENTO gas station network, recently rehabilitated by the judiciary, after it was concluded that in 2018 they were persecuted, detained, arrested, dispossessed of property and illegally prosecuted in a criminal case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The current Acting Chief of the Anti-Drug Service of the Border Police is among those who investigated and managed the VENTO case. He was an investigating officer at that time and has already been officially charged for <strong>\u201dthe excess of power, forgery in public acts, illegal detention or arrest, and prosecuting an innocent person.\u201d<\/strong> Two other people will be heard in this case.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Viorel Morari is accused of having received from Vladimir Plahotniuc a complaint that he had registered contrary to the legal provisions, based on which he started a criminal case and falsified a series of procedural documents. According to the evidence, those actions were committed both in the personal interest and in the interest of the petitioner, but also of other persons in his entourage, in order to protect them from involvement, as suspects, in the criminal case of the billion-dollar bank fraud obstructing the rapid, complete and objective investigation of the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Chi\u0219in\u0103u Court began examining the Morari case on February 14, 2020, when he was the former head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor&#8217;s Office and was released from pre-trial detention. Viorel Morari pleads not guilty and claims that the files would be a political order after he decided to restart the criminal case regarding the Socialist\u2019s Party\u2019s alleged financing from abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In October 2020, the controversial bussinessman Veaceslav Platon demanded compensation of\u00a0 300,000,000 dollars from the former head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor&#8217;s Office, Viorel Morari, because he allegedly followed up on a complaint filed by Vladimir Plahotniuc on his behalf.
