The final results presented by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) show that Maia Sandu defeated Igor Dodon by a difference of over 250,000 votes.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp; Central Electoral Commission made public the final results after processing all the ballots. <strong>Thus, in the second round, Maia Sandu accumulated about over 943 thousand votes, the equivalent of 57.75%, while up to 690 thousand Moldovan citizens voted for Igor Dodon (42.25%). Today, leaders of neighboring countries of Moldova and heads of global institutions have welcomed and cheered for Moldova\u2019s next President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, congratulating Maia Sandu for the victory obtained in the presidential elections was Romania\u2019s President Klaus Iohannis. According to a communiqu\u00e9 of the Romanian Presidential Administration, the President of Romania will go to Chisinau after Maia Sandu takes over her mandate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The President of Ukraine is the second head of state, Vladimir Zelenskiy sent her a message via his Twitter account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;Congratulations to Maia Sandu on the occasion of the victory in the presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova. It states that <em>&#8220;Under her leadership, the Moldovan people will prosper, and relations between our nations will develop.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;I express my sincere congratulations to @sandumaiamd on her victory in the presidential elections in #Moldova. I am deeply impressed by her bravery and dedication. I believe that under her leadership the Moldovan people will prosper and the relations between our nations will develop.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>President Vladimir Putin welcomed Moldova\u2019s election results. A statement appeared on the website of the Russian presidency. The text mentions that Vladimir Putin sends Maia Sandu a congratulatory telegram on the victory in the presidential elections. <em>&#8220;I count on the fact that your activity as head of the state will correspond to the constructive development relations between our countries. This, without a doubt, will be in the interest of the people of Russia and Moldova,&#8221; communicates the Kremlin press release.&nbsp; It also mentions Vladimir Putin wishing the election winner success, good health, and well-being.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-4 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"740\" height=\"554\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Putinfelicitari.png\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"5525\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Putinfelicitari.png\" data-link=\"https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/en\/?attachment_id=5525\" class=\"wp-image-5525\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Putinfelicitari.png 740w, https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Putinfelicitari-360x270.png 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The announcement of the Russian presidency comes after Igor Dodon announced that his staff <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdg.md\/stiri\/stiri-sociale\/dodon-vorbeste-despre-fraudarea-alegerilor-si-anunta-ca-va-depune-contestatii-alegatorii-mei-ma-intreaba-cu-lacrimi-in-ochi-de-ce-sa-permitem-celor-care-au-fraudat-alegerile-si-sa-nu-conte\/\">had found &#8220;unprecedented violations&#8221;<\/a> and that he would challenge the election results in all judiciary courts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And Russian opponent Alexei Navalny sent a congratulatory message to Maia Sandu for winning the presidential election. He noted that <em>\u201cMoldova has everything for successful development.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen followed with congratulations to Maia Sandu as well.
