The European Union (EU) will approve the release of the second tranche of macro-financial assistance worth \u20ac30 million for Moldova. The announcement was made by the leader of the Action and Solidarity Party, former Prime Minister Maia Sandu, through a message on Facebook. Sandu also announced that the third tranche, worth \u20ac40 million was canceled.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Former Prime Minister Sandu, the EU will release the second tranch of macro-financial assistance worth \u20ac30 million for Moldova on June 10. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The European Union will approve the release of \u20ac30 million for Moldova. <\/em><\/strong>After months of insistence on our part, the parliamentary majority and President Igor Dodon’s government were willing to vote for some of the commitments that Moldova had to obtain this money,”<\/em> mentions the Action and Solidarity Party leader in a Facebook post<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sandu also mentions that Moldova will not receive the third tranche, worth \u20ac40 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Unfortunately, the third tranche, worth \u20ac40 million, was canceled due to the irresponsibility and laziness of Moldova\u2019s government. From \u20ac40 million, \u20ac20 million was donated by the EU, henceforth <\/i>Moldova should not return to the EU<\/em> <\/em><\/strong>this 20 \u20acmillion<\/em><\/strong>. In other words, Moldova\u2019s citizens could\u2019ve received a gift of 400 million lei from the EU. Because of Dodon and his government, this money will not reach our country. It will reach another country, with responsible management<\/em>,\u201d Sandu also noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The macro-financial assistance agreement expires in July 2020<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, thanks to EU support, the Moldovan police managed to continue the modernization and professionalization of its structures. Also, thanks to EU support, Moldova has increased the competitiveness of the agri-food sector by investing in agriculture, creating groups of farmers, and providing the necessary assistance to agri-food units trading with the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EU funding has also helped align with international and EU quality standards on food safety. The EU program also supported rural development initiatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
