The U.S. authorities, responsible for the case have direct communication with the authorities in Moldova.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asked how long it takes to examine an extradition request, the ambassador stated that this depends on the case and the evidence that is offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/zdg.md\/en\/?p=3635\"><strong>The Office of the Prosecutor General Asks U.S. to Extradite Moldova\u2019s Biggest Oligarch<\/strong><\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Moldova\u2019s authorities must present all the records they have and after that, the examination of this request begins,&#8221; said Dereck J. Hogan, the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two weeks ago, the Prosecutor General, Alexandr Stoianoglo, requested the U.S. to extradite Plahotniuc, who is charged with involvement in \u201cThe Theft of the Billion\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, the Anticorruption Prosecutor\u2019s Office requested that U.S. authorities prosecute Plahotniuc\u2019s criminal activity and investigate the origin of his assets in the U.S. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plahotniuc sued the U.S. State Department one month after the visa ban was announced. In Moldova, Plahotniuc has four criminal cases opened against him, two of them being linked to \u201cThe Theft of the Billion\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/zdg.md\/en\/?p=3621\"><strong>One Year After Vladimir Plahotniuc, the Country\u2019s Tycoon Left Moldova.
