Prime Minister Ion Chicu had a meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, Peter Michalko. The two officials reviewed Moldova\u2019s progress in fulfilling its commitments within the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 5, Prime Minister Ion Chicu and the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Moldova met to review the progress made in fulfilling Moldova\u2019s commitments within the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. The two officials approved 25 normative acts meant to harmonize Moldova\u2019s laws to the European laws.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“In order to boost the implementation of the conditionalities related to EU macro-financial assistance, the Government has finalized and approved, as a matter of priority, the law on procurement in the energy, water, transport, and postal services sectors, and the law on violations in the field of prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing, with the application of sanctions,” it is shown in the communiqu\u00e9 issued by the Government.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Government also announces that the EU has sent to the Moldovan authorities a list of eight short-term actions as a precondition for the resumption of the full political dialogue and the disbursement of tranche II of the Macro-Financial Assistance (existing program).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Progress has been made in creating the joint investigation team of Moldova-Latvia on the case of bank fraud. A bill has been registered for the repeal of the Citizenship Program through investments, which is now in the process of being approved. Actions related to the Justice Reform and Superior Council of Magistracy Reform Strategy are being implemented. The Audiovisual Council and the Competition Council were notified to present proposals regarding the conduct of the peer-review evaluation. Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs, Appointments, and Immunities approved the draft law on non-profit organizations, which is due to be debated in plenary.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The communiqu\u00e9 also shows that Ambassador Peter Michalko announced the allocation of \u20ac5 million to support the Government of Moldova in the process of implementing the Association Agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
