Between 1996 and 2024 the total value of completed<\/em> projects exceeded \u20ac300 million , across six seven strategic sectors: hospitality,<\/em> construction, healthcare, real estate, retail, and social projects. For 2025\u20132028, Summa plans to invest an additional \u20ac300 million, bringing its total investment portfolio in Moldova to \u20ac600 million. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n This long-term approach has given the company a unique advantage: Summa has become one of the strongest players capable of attracting international and local partners of the calibre of Radisson, Marriott International, the EBRD, the World Bank, CEB, MCA Moldova, OTP Bank, and Victoriabank, delivering capital-intensive and nationally significant projects. For Moldova\u2019s market, this scale elevates the company to the status of a strategic national partner in infrastructure<\/em> and economic development.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n It is worth noting that international hotel chains long considered Moldova a difficult market. Early Radisson, Marriott International and Ramada initiatives in the 2000s faced legal disputes, a lack of suitable properties, and an underdeveloped investment climate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite several attempts, the full entry of major global brands became possible only with strong local partners capable of ensuring high standards and providing the necessary capital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n One such partner was Summa, which opened the franchised Radisson Blu (2015) in place of its former Leogrand Hotel, followed by Courtyard by Marriott (2019), the first fully fledged Marriott International property in the country. Summa operates with a clear strategic vision, consistently developing projects that raise national hospitality standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Atilla \u015eanc\u0131, Summa\u2019s Regional Director for Moldova, following the successful implementation of Radisson Blu and Courtyard by Marriott, the company is now launching a new integrated development: the construction of two hotels under Marriott\u2019s international brands \u2014 Moxy Hotels and Residence Inn by Marriott.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThese are not merely two hotels of different formats; they form part of a multifunctional complex that also includes the high-tech Medpark City Clinic. This approach reflects Summa\u2019s strategy: shifting from standalone buildings to integrated ecosystems capable of serving business, leisure, and healthcare services simultaneously, both for local and international visitors. The investment amounts to \u20ac40 million, with completion expected in Q1 2028. The project\u2019s scale and concept go far beyond traditional hotel development. Moxy Hotels targets a young, urban audience; Residence Inn by Marriott is tailored for long-stay guests; while the next-generation Medpark City Clinic adds substantial value through advanced diagnostics and medical services, wellness programs, and a comprehensive medical tourism offering. Together, this will introduce a completely new format to Moldova\u2019s hospitality industry \u2014 one that has not existed in the country before,\u201d \u015eanc\u0131 noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n From an architectural and functional standpoint, Moxy Hotels will stand out with its vibrant, contemporary design, emphasis on communal spaces, dynamic atmosphere, and high level of technology, offering compact yet functional rooms and active social areas. Residence Inn by Marriott will provide spacious apartment-style suites with kitchens, workspaces, and a home-like atmosphere suitable for long-term stays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The complex integrates Medpark City Clinic, a next-generation medical hub offering comprehensive care and exclusive services, uniting advanced medical specialties, high standards of care, international-level quality, and specialists with European and global certifications. The center develops a fully personalized approach to treatment and is entirely patient-oriented. It will offer wellness programs and access to modern medical services, creating additional value for future residents, visitors to the complex, and both the local and international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Medpark City Clinic, designed to deliver comprehensive care and exclusive medical services, will integrate advanced medical specialties, high-quality care standards, international expertise, and specialists with European and global certifications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Medpark City Clinic is designed as an independent unit, yet structurally integrated within the Medpark International Hospital system, already recognized as the leading private medical institution in the country. It will provide services in the field of personalised medicine, longevity, functional medicine, rehabilitation and advanced prevention health programs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n For the medical turism sector, this is a major advantage: international patients will be able to access services within a single infrastructure without traveling across the city \u2014 enhancing Chi\u0219in\u0103u\u2019s appeal for both medical and business tourism. Meanwhile, local residents will benefit from access to medical services, restaurants, and shopping facilities. The complex\u2019s convenient location and extensive parking further strengthen its attractiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Atilla \u015eanc\u0131 emphasized that in this project, Summa applies the same principle used across all its developments: combining international standards with local resources. Nowadays, the company employs more than 1,250 people, engaging local contractors and providing training opportunities aligned with international hospitality standards. The new complex will create approximately 300 new jobs, and Marriott\u2019s direct involvement will further enhance professional development. These initiatives are significant for a market that has long faced a shortage of staff trained to international standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Several of Summa\u2019s flagship projects have had exceptional impact in Moldova. In healthcare \u2014 Medpark International Hospital, implemented in two phases (2010 and 2023), became the largest private medical institution in the country, earning prestigious JCI accreditation, the first of this level in Moldova. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Chisinau Arena (2020) became the country\u2019s first large-scale sports and entertainment complex developed through a public-private partnership. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Chi\u0219in\u0103u International Airport (2000), became the country\u2019s main gateway and a key driver of tourism and business activity. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Radisson Blu Leogrand Hotel (2015) and Courtyard by Marriott Chi\u0219in\u0103u (2019) elevated national hospitality standards and attracted business tourism and international investment. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The rehabilitation of the M2 Chi\u0219in\u0103u\u2013Soroca road (2014) improved regional connectivity. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Equally significant was Shopping MallDova (2008), the first international-standard retail and entertainment center in Moldova, which set new benchmarks for shopping and urban leisure, transforming Chi\u0219in\u0103u into a regional commercial and lifestyle hub.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The company\u2019s new investments come at a moment of renewed dynamism in the hospitality sector. After the pandemic, the market recovered and entered a growth phase. From January to September 2025 alone, the number of accommodated tourists increased by 9.6%, while overnight stays grew by 4.9%, <\/strong>ignaling rising demand for high-quality accommodation and modern infrastructure. The increasing share of foreign visitors further confirms Moldova\u2019s growing appeal as both a tourism and business destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, the accommodation sector remains uneven: outdated facilities cannot compete with modern developments, and only a few operators meet international standards. This is why the new Marriott International brands will contribute to diversifying the hotel offering in the mid-scale and upscale segments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time, Summa is not limiting itself to hospitality projects and is exploring investment opportunities in other strategic sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Atilla \u0218anc\u0131, the company is actively diversifying its investment portfolio: <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe are implementing major commercial real estate projects, including a new shopping mall with \u20ac250 million in planned investment, scheduled to open in 2028. Healthcare remains a top priority, with the expansion of Medpark International Hospital (construction of an Oncology Diagnostic Center) and the development of Medpark City Clinic. Renewable energy is another strategic interest \u2014 reflected in our plans to build a 20 MW solar power plant. Premium real estate and agrotourism also remain promising directions, and we are currently planning a Wine Hotel & Country Club<\/em>.
