Officers of the Northern Territorial General Directorate of the National Anti-Corruption Centre (CNA) and prosecutors of the Northern Office of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office detained a former criminal investigation officer of the Ocnita Police Inspectorate on Tuesday morning, November 15. He is suspected of having demanded 2,200 euros from a person to help him solve a criminal case, which was initiated because of driving a car in an advanced state of drunkenness.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

CNA DGT North officers and anti-corruption prosecutors carried out a criminal investigation into the former investigator, from whose home evidence, including a mobile phone, was seized. The suspect was detained for 72 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the case materials, the prosecution officer allegedly demanded 1,800 euros from the complainant in exchange for influencing some magistrates of the Edinet Court to issue a favourable decision in the case. The positive solution consisted in the conventional sanctioning of the person (140 hours of unpaid community service) without depriving him of the right to drive the means of transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the court’s sentence was challenged by the prosecutor at the Balti Court of Appeal, the investigator allegedly demanded 400 euros to organise the upholding of the sentence in the appeal court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
